Delaware Crossing 8

drawings in my
Colored
Pencil Gallery
8.5  x 25.5, colored pencil on paper.
On this gray day in late winter I wanted to
suggest impending movement through the
dynamic shapes and lines of this railroad scene.
(Central Avenue, Delaware).
Field Repose
27.5 x 39.5, colored pencil on paper.
This is the largest colored pencil work in my
portfolio. Because the evening sun is waning
over the fields, I used varying strokes and pencil
pressure to create lights and darks. Off the busy
main roads, beautiful scenes are still to be found.
Forgotten Paths XIV
19 x 25, colored pencil on paper.
Traces of a path lead to a forgotten parlor door of
this farmhouse on Big Walnut Road in New
Albany, OH.
Forgotten Paths XV1
24 x 16, colored pencil on paper.
This elegant Italianate farmhouse perches
gracefully on a hill overlooking Alum Creek.
Morning Radiance
19.5 x 19.5, colored pencil on paper.
I was awestruck by this magnificent tree
spreading its branches in the early morning dew
of July.
Morning Run on Old State
Road
30 x 40, oil on canvas.
Early morning sun streams across a field,
burning off the last wisps of fog. The country road
offers a route for contemplation of the day ahead.
House at Field's Edge 1
10 x 20, colored pencil on paper.
In these two views  of the same house, I
wanted to convey the isolation and stillness of a
Sunday morning. (Delaware County)
.
House at Field's Edge 2

Signs of August
20 x 30, colored pencil on paper.
A sea of corn stretches to the horizon on either
side of the road; to the right a long narrow road
leads to an isolated farmhouse. (Rt 36/37, east of
Delaware).
Just down the road new commercial centers are
being completed.
The Playground Tree
28.5 x 22.5, colored pencil on paper.
(Peachtree Road). The center of interest is really
the knarled tree and much used  lawn by this
abandoned schoolhouse.
Field Calligraphy
17 x 25.5, colored pencil on paper.
(No. 5 Gooding School, Route 23, now
demolished). From old photographs and records,
I combined students' names in the grasses of
this now demolished schoolhouse.

Waiting for Gas
17 x 25.5, colored pencil on paper.
(Central Avenue, Delaware). This stately little
building was once a gas station. I was intrigued
by the car parked to the side, and vestiges of the
gas pipes
Dreams at Dusk
12.5 x 25.5, colored pencil on paper.
(Howard Road, Alum Creek area). The evening
sun in late summer castes a dreamy spell on
lake roads.
Tree Cathedral
30 x 22, colored pencil on paper.
(Orange Road). This majestic arch of foliage and
supporting trunks and branches reminded me of
a Gothic Cathedral. This road may soon be
widened and the trees cut down.
Sky Notes: Late Twentieth
Century
.22.75 x 29.75, colored pencil on paper.
The sky is the message board for impending
changes to this farm field. (Del
aware County).
