Syracuse University Hall of Languages

In 1975, one of my first professional commissions was a series of eight graphite drawings,18 x 14, for Syracuse University's fund-raising campaign for restoration of The Hall of Languages. Work on the building was completed in 1979. The drawings are included in the Syracuse University Art Collection.

Professors and students left an imprint on the building’s interior spaces.     A snowy night conjures images of past students, from eager young women to World War 2 veterans.

By the 1880’s, the building was overcrowded with libraries and laboratories.     The building commanded a hilltop view of Syracuse.
