Linda Wesner
Colored Pencil Gallery
My colored pencil drawings are very detailed and labor - intensive.  Countless strokes of waxy
pigment build up soft layers. I lightly work the pencil point over a slightly grained paper to create the
illusion of form and texture. While working on the image, I constantly study my reference shots to create
a feeling of stillness, yet hint at past activity.

When I am completely absorbed in creating a colored pencil piece, I begin to see things in real life
rendered in pencil. I have hundreds  of pencils, but I've worked with them so much that when I'm "in
the zone" I can intuitively select the exact shade for a certain area.  Working with a limited palette, I
create several soft layers of pigment on slightly textured colored paper.
